The £3,000 Simon Wharmby Postgraduate Scholarship in Environmental Sciences is available for a student wishing to study a postgraduate taught programme in the School of Environmental Sciences.

Rules

1. There shall be a Scholarship to be known as the Simon Wharmby Postgraduate Scholarship in Environmental Sciences. The purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage a student to study any postgraduate taught programme offered by the School of Environmental Sciences.
2. The value of the Scholarship shall be £3,000.
3. The Scholarship shall be awarded on a competitive basis and will become payable on completion of registration of the successful applicant.
4. Details of the Scholarship will be publicised with appropriate information on selection criteria (see below) and value of award.
5. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) on the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Director of Postgraduate Teaching in the School of Environmental Sciences and two other members of the School of Environmental Sciences Faculty associated with the postgraduate teaching programme.
6. If two candidates are judged to be of sufficient and equal merit, the Scholarship may be divided. There shall be a maximum of two winners.
7. If no candidate is judged to be of sufficient merit, the Scholarship shall not be awarded.
8. The winning candidate(s) shall be required to attend an event for publicity purposes.

Selection criteria :


1. Academic standing (level of qualification, content covered, grade 2:i or above obtained).
2. Relevance of previous study to UEA course applied to.
3. Previous experience relevant to the course applied to (evident from e.g. paid/unpaid work or hobbies or roles of responsibility held in clubs, societies, NGOs or professional organisations).
